Leak Repairs Without Unnecessary Renovation
A leaking shower does not automatically mean a bathroom renovation. In a lot of homes the water is getting through the grout, the silicone or a joint, and that can be fixed without pulling the room apart.
What this means for your home
The most common thing we hear from homeowners is that they were told the whole bathroom needed doing. Sometimes that is true. Often it is not, and the difference is whether anyone actually established where the water was getting through.
We start with an assessment. If a targeted repair will solve it, that is what we will recommend. It is faster, cheaper and you keep your bathroom. If it will not, we will tell you that just as directly.
Either way you get a written quote with the scope set out before anything begins, so there are no surprises halfway through.
- Avoid unnecessary demolition where a targeted repair will do
- Improve tired, stained and cracked grout
- Address leaking showers at the source
- Restore the appearance of your bathroom
- A clear written quote before any work begins

What to expect
How a Residential Job Runs
- 1
Tell us what is happening
Send photos and a description through the site, or use the estimator to get an indicative range first. The more we can see, the more useful our first response is.
- 2
Assessment
We review the photos, and where a leak is involved we will usually recommend an inspection. Identifying the actual source is what determines whether a non-invasive repair is appropriate.
- 3
Written quotation
You get a written quote setting out the scope line by line, what is included, what is not, and what we would recommend if further investigation is warranted.
- 4
The work
We protect the area, carry out the agreed scope, clean up after ourselves and leave you with written care and curing instructions.
Questions
Common Homeowner Questions
Can you fix a leaking shower without removing tiles?
Often, yes. Many shower leaks are caused by defects at the tiled surface, such as deteriorated grout, perished silicone, failed junctions or unsealed penetrations, and those can be repaired without demolition.
It depends on the condition and the source of the leak. An inspection may be required to determine whether a non-invasive repair is suitable. Where the evidence points to a failed waterproofing membrane, a plumbing fault or structural movement, a surface repair will not resolve it and we will tell you that rather than proceed.
How long does bathroom leak repair take?
Most targeted repairs to a single shower or wet area are completed within a day. A full regrout of a shower including silicone replacement is also typically a one-day job.
Larger scopes, multiple areas or work that turns out to need additional preparation can extend beyond that. Your written quotation sets out the expected duration before work starts.
How long before I can use the shower again?
As a general guide, allow at least 24 hours after grouting and silicone application before the area is wet again. Silicone in particular needs time to cure properly, and using the shower too early is the most common cause of a premature failure.
The exact time depends on the products used, the temperature and the humidity on the day. We give you specific written curing times for your job before we leave.
Can you match my existing grout colour?
We can usually get close. Where a whole area is being regrouted at once the match matters less, because the entire surface is consistent when we finish.
An exact match to aged grout is not something we would promise. Existing grout carries years of staining and wear that new material does not have. If colour is important to you, we will discuss the options before starting.
Do you provide written quotes?
Yes. Every job is quoted in writing before work begins, with the scope set out line by line so you know exactly what is and is not included.
Quotations remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless stated otherwise.
