Midland is the commercial centre of Perth’s eastern corridor and sits in the City of Swan, and its housing reflects a long history rather than a single decade. A good deal of the older stock dates from the years when the railway workshops were the town’s major employer: modest houses whose bathrooms were tiled over a sand-and-cement bed and finished with cement-based grout.
